Diego da Silva Costa or Diego Costa was born on October 7, 1988. He is a Brazilian professional soccer player who moved into Spanish nationality and now plays for Chelsea in the Premier League. Diego Costa plays as a striker.
Diego started his career with the club from Portugal; Braga. He then signed a contract in 2007 with Atlético Madrid, but was loaned out to Celta, Albacete, and sold to Valladolid before he returned to Atletico three years later and became the spearhead of the club.
At the international level, Costa played twice with the Brazilian national team in 2013, but later expressed his desire to represent Spain after he was granted Spanish citizenship in September 2013.
Born in Lagarto, Sergipe, Costa started his career at Barcelona Esportivo Capela in São Paulo, which is limited to amateur football game until the age of 16. his first step into a professional player is when he signed in February 2006 with the club SC Braga, after which he spent his time there as a reserve player of the club.
In the summer of 2006, Costa was loaned to FC Penafiel, in the second division. In December, it was sold to Spanish side Atletico Madrid at a cost of € 1.5 million. Although it already belongs to Atletico Madrid on loan at Braga he remained until the end of the season.
On July 8, 2009 Costa sold to Real Valladolid as part of the exchange deal goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo. The contract also includes an option of repurchase which can be done by Atletico at the end of this season.
In June 2010 Costa back to Atletico Madrid. Originally he was a backup to Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan. On September 26, as a result of injuries experienced Sergio Aguero, he played and scored the only goal against Real Zaragoza.

On March 5, 2013 Costa called up by the Brazilian national team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to play in the friendly match with Italy in Geneva and against the Russians in London.
In September 2013, the Royal Spanish Football Federation sent a letter to FIFA’s request official permission to call Costa to strengthen the Spanish National Team. Previously, he had gained Spanish citizenship in early summer.
