Seventeen-year-old Agnes Bruckner, who prefers "casual, kind of weird outfits," says "As long as I'm comfortable, and it looks different, I like it." Bruckner, who lives with her family in southern California, turned pro at eleven with a stint on CBS's soap The Bold and the Beautiful, and has worked steadily ever since. This month, she takes her career to a new level as the star of the Sundance buzz movie Blue Car, Karen Moncrieff's riveting portrait of a gifted teenager who seeks refuge from her nightmare family with an attractive forty something writing instructor. Bruckner doesn't just hold her own opposite David Stratharin--she carries the film. To hear her tell it, this wasn't heavy lifting. "I fell in love with the character," she says "and I like a little pressure."
