Archived: 25 Jan 2007 | Filed In Magazines & Newspapers Movieline By Daniel Davis In an age when many performers seem to toil mightily with even the most base line of reading, it's refreshing to watch an actor who makes it look effortless. Such is the case with 17 year old L.A. native Agnes Bruckner, who got her start on on the "Bold and the Beautiful," popped up in The Glass House and "Alias" and then unexpected gravity to what could have been a standard girlfriend role in Murder by Numbers This fall, in addition to taking part in a Tommy Hilfiger ad campaign, Bruckner stars as a deeply conflicted high school poet contending with a shattered family in the mournful Sundance hit Blue Car. Q: What’s the best advice a costar has given you? A: After her got into an argument with out Murder by Numbers director Barbet Schroeder, Michael Pitt told me, "Agnes, never compromise with people! Never!" [Laughs] I don't know if that is the best advice. Q: How did you develop your character in Blue Car? A: It was pretty easy because at the same time I was kind of going through the same situation-my parents had recently separated so I had many real experiences to draw from.
Q: Was it hard on you? A: No, it was actually therapeutic.
Q: Which actresses do you look up to? A: Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Julia Stiles, Christina Ricci, Angelina Jolie-so many inspire me. But I want to create a new road for myself instead of following in someone else's footsteps.
